Bradley Cooper sues French magazine for saying he's dating Irina Shayk

US actor Bradley Cooper has followed Leonardo Dicaprio's footstep by suing a French magazine that reported his relationship with model, Irina Shayk.

Leo sued same magazine Oops for reporting he got Rihanna pregnant.

Are these actors just messing with this magazine or what? TMZ reports below..

Bradley Cooper's relationship with supermodel Irina Shayk is nobody's business -- at least in France, according to a lawsuit the actor just filed against a magazine there.

Cooper's gunning for Oops! magazine over its May 28 story declaring ... "L'amour au grand jour" ... which loosely translates to ... love out in the open.

In the lawsuit, filed by French legal eagle Vincent Tolédano ...

Cooper says he's never spoken publicly about dating Shayk, so the story violates his right, under French law, to a "private life."

It sounds weird in this country, but Bradley might have a case in France where celebrities are treated more like your average Pierre ... at least when it comes to privacy.

He's suing Oops! for 11,000 euros.

Interestingly, Tolédano just filed a similar lawsuit for Leonardo DiCaprio against the same magazine for its cover story claiming he knocked up Rihanna.

Oops! tells us it has no idea why Cooper is suing, since their story is based on photos that ran in a Spanish magazine.

In fact, those same photos were also everywhere in the U.S.

19 militants killed in Libya’s Derna clashes

Nineteen militants were killed earlier on Wednesday in clashes between local jihadists and the Islamic State affiliate in the eastern Libyan city of Derna, according to a security source.

“Three commanders of al-Qaida linking militants of Derna were killed in clashes against IS affiliate.

About 16 IS affiliate militants were killed including Libyan leaders and ten foreigners,” a source from the Interior Ministry told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

“The fighting was caused by different ideology of IS fighters who came back from Syria where they fought with al-Nusra Front,” the source added. Nasser al-Aker, a senior militant leader in Derna, was also killed on Tuesday by IS fighters, the source said.

UN warns of worsening situation in Sudan’s Darfur

The UN has warned that violent attacks on international peacekeepers and civilians in Sudan’s conflict-torn Darfur region have been increasing, forcing tens of thousands of people from their homes.

Edmond Mulet, UN peacekeeping deputy chief, told the 15-member Security Council on Wednesday that there has been negligible progress in peace efforts for Darfur.

He blamed the second phase of the Sudanese government’s Decisive Summer military campaign to end armed uprisings for causing the new wave of displacement across the region.

We can leave Darfur in a year if the government creates the necessary conditions to make that possible.

Abiodun Oluremi Bashua, acting head of UNAMID Humanitarian organisations have estimated at least 78,000 newly displaced this year, while the UN has unverified reports of 130,000 more, Mulet said.

“There is also significant concern about reports of indiscriminate attacks against civilians” and other human rights violations, he said.

One diplomat speaking to Al Jazeera described the UNAMID, a joint mission by the UN and the African Union, as “the most dysfunctional peacekeeping mission in the world”.

“UN officials will tell you privately that the actions of the government of Sudan are one of the reasons why UNAMID is not working,” Al Jazeera’s Diplomatic Editor James Bays reported from the UN head quarters in New York.

“Some will tell you that if UNAMID continues to fail, then eventually the UN should withdraw.

But of course that’s exactly what Sudan has made it clear it wants to happen.”

UN chief Ban Ki-moon’s latest progress report on UNAMID said there were 60 “incidents and hostile attacks against UNAMID” in the three months to May 15, compared with 46 in the previous quarter.

The new surge of violence in Darfur comes as the UN holds talks with the government of President Omar al-Bashir on an exit strategy for UNAMID, which has at least 15,000 peacekeepers on the ground.

Sudan ordered UNAMID out of Darfur late last year.

Pope creates tribunal for bishop child abuse cases

Pope Francis has created a new Vatican tribunal section to hear cases of bishops who fail to protect children from sexually abusive priests.

Wednesday’s announcement came years after victims groups started urging the Vatican to establish clear procedures to make bishops more accountable for abuse in their dioceses, even if they were not directly responsible for it.

The reform involves the creation of a new crime of “abuse of episcopal office” in canon law, Reuters news agency reported.

Father Federico Lombardi, a Vatican spokesman, said that the bishops could also be judged if they had failed to take measures to prevent sexual abuse of minors.

The complaints against the bishops would be initially investigated by one of three Vatican departments, depending on under whose jurisdiction the bishops fall, before being judged by the doctrinal department.

The Vatican said the pope had approved proposals made to him by a commission advising him on how to root out sexual abuse of children.

Part of the task of the commission, which is made up of 17 clerics and ordinary people from around the world, is to help dioceses put in place “best practices” to prevent abuse and work with victims in a process of healing.

Eight members are women.

The worldwide scandal, which first became prominent in Boston in 2002, has seen known abusers shunted from parish to parish instead of being defrocked and handed over to authorities.

Last February, Francis ordered bishops the world over to cooperate as a matter of priority with the commission to root out “the scourge” of the sexual abuse even if it unearths new scandals.

FIFA U20: Mali humbles Ghana, to face Nigeria or Germany

Mali are through to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-20 World Cup after a shock 3-0 win over Ghana at Wellington’s Regional Stadium.

It was thanks to a trio of truly wonderful goals that Les Aigles deservedly triumphed in this all-African encounter, with Diadie Samassekou, Diedonne Gbakle and Aboubabacar Doumbia producing strikes worthy of gracing any stage.

Ghana, winners of this tournament in 2009, started as heavy favourites after topping Group B and beating Argentina.

But from an early stage it was clear that they would be up against it.

Even before going ahead on 20 minutes, Mali had created the better openings, with the Black Satellites’ Lawrence Ati forced into a fine save to keep out Souleymane Diarra.

followed. It came from a fantastic bit of swift, slick interplay between Samassekou and Adama Traore, with a couple of quick-fire passes and flicks exchanged before the former slammed a left-foot shot into the far corner of the net.

Ghana attempted to rally but found Digui Diarra an impassable barrier, with Emmanuel Boateng twice denied by the impressive Aigles keeper either side of half- time.

Mali remained the more composed and dangerous of the two teams, though, and it was no more than they deserved when a second goal arrived on 53 minutes.

Again, it was a wonderful effort, with Samassekou dancing inside from the right wing past a couple of challenges before curling in a magnificent 20-yard shot that bounced down off the underside of the bar and back up into the roof of the net.

The Ghanaians were stunned and could easily have found themselves three down when Diedonne Gbakle cut in from the same right flank and forced Ati into a fine close-range stop.

But the Black Satellites keeper was merely delaying the inevitable and a final, crowning goal for Senegal arrived nine minutes from time.

True to form, it was a thing of beauty, with Aboubabacar Doumbia showing a terrific burst of pace to break clear of the Ghana defence before lofting the most delightful of chipped finishes into the far corner.

Mali now advance to face either Germany or Nigeria in Christchurch and, on the evidence of this match, those teams should be wary indeed of the threat Les Aigles pose.

S’Korea sets up MERS clinics country wide

South Korea has announced it will set up designated clinics in all major cities to treat Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, as President Park Geun-hye postponed a planned trip to the US amid growing public alarm over the out break.

As the death toll rose to nine and the number of confirmed cases of MERS rose to 103 on Wednesday, Al Jazeera’s Harry Fawcett, reporting from Seoul, said a deputy prime minister told people with MERS symptoms to not present themselves at hospital.

Instead, they were told to contact authorities.

Aljazeera’s correspondent said the outbreak had spread “very much from hospital to hospital”, with 47 of the 103 cases now confirmed to have been contracted at Seoul’s Samsung Medical Center.
