Ghen Ghen! New Gov. Wike begins probe of former Gov., Amaechi

Looks like Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike is officially ready for former Gov. Rotimi Amaechi.

He's asked all Permanent Secretaries in the state to produce full account details of their Ministries’ expenditure in the last 18 months. Read the press statement below...

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has directed Permanent Secretaries in the state to produce full account details of their Ministries ' expenditure over the last 18 months.

This is even as the governor advised the permanent secretaries to shun partisan politics as career civil servants, saying the roles some of them played in the closing days of the immediate past administration were politically motivated.

Addressing permanent secretaries during a meeting at Government House, Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Wike regretted that some of the permanent secretaries helped the immediate past administration to illegally withdraw funds from the State Government coffers even up to the 28th of May, 2015. He said : "I want full details and print out of every ministry's account in the last 18 months.

I will not accept any handover note without an accompanying account details.

"The government was coming to a close and some of you were busy signing cheques on 26,27 and 28 of May. On 28 of May, the Transition Committee called most of you and you refused to cooperate because they told you I will not be sworn-in.

" The governor noted that he will not witch hunt any civil servant irrespective of his/her role in the electioneering period .

He, however, said that no civil servant would be allowed to sabotage the efforts of his administration. He urged the permanent secretaries to work with his administration to revive the state and put back smile on the faces of the people.

"Those of you who want to work with us to develop Rivers State will get the necessary support. You are career civil servants and not politicians.

As civil servants, don't play the role of politicians ", he said.

The Rivers State Governor pointed out that the back-dated employments and indiscriminate issuance of certificates of occupancy by the immediate past administration would be re- visited.

He specifically directed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Survey to produce the relevant land documents for examination.

The permanent secretaries were led to the meeting by the Head of Service, Barrister Samuel LongJohn.

Others who attended the meeting were the former Minister of Sports, Dr Tammy Danagogo, Former Deputy governor, Tele Ikuru and Secretary of the Transition Committee, Barrister Frank Owhor.

Female Corps Member missing (photos)

A 24-year-old female youth Corper, Ijeoma Susan Azubuike (pictured above) has been declared missing by her family.

She was last seen on Sunday May 31st in Owo, Ondo State where armed robbers attacked a GUO Transport bus conveying her and several other passengers to Lagos.

Ijeoma, a graduate of the University of Ado-Ekiti, left Jigawa for Lagos State on saturday 30th of May after completing her 3 weeks orientation exercise but stopped over in Abuja to continue her journey on Sunday being a long trip.

The family said they got a call on Sunday, May 31st, around 3:30pm from someone in Owo, Ondo state asking to speak to the of father Ijeoma.

He then proceeded to explain that the GUO bus which was bringing them to Lagos from Abuja was attacked by armed robbers in Owo and they all had to run for safety, after the robbers had left, they all went back to the bus to continue their journey and it was then they discovered that Ijeoma was missing.

The passenger said they got the mobile number from the Manifest which Ijeoma had filled her father's details as her next of kin, since that Sunday till now Ijeoma has not been found.

According to the female passenger who Ijeoma met at the park, she told us as they ran for their safety into the bush Ijeoma noticed her carrying her own bag on her neck and screamed !!my bag!! and quickly ran back to get her own bag that was the last time she was seen.

British backpacker gang-raped by bikers in Thailand

A 19 year british back packer was allegedly raped by a gang of bikers while she was on vacation in Thailand.

The woman was allegedly attacked as she walked to a shop in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

It is understood that the teenager was visiting the Kanchanaburi district, 76 miles west of Bangkok, with a group of tourists.

She is believed to have been staying at a well known local resort.

The horrifying attack allegedly took place after the victim had dinner on Monday night and walked alone to a shop at around 1.30pm, where she was kidnapped by a motorcycle gang.

The teenager told the police that the bikers raped her and stole her property before dumping her at a market in Mueang district.

Police are now checking CCTV footage for clues.

The alleged rape comes after after Brttish backpackers Hannah Witheridge, 23 and David Miller, 24, were brutally murdered on the island of Koh Tao in September last year.

Burmese migrants Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htun, both 21, were arrested two weeks after the semi-naked bodies of the pair were found.

A murder trial is due to take place in July.

Bruce Jenner wanted his oldest daughter aborted

In the newest issue of ‘Vanity Fair,’ Caitlyn admits that Bruce Jenner was married to his first wife Chrystie Crownover from 1972 to 1981, with whom he had two children, Burton and Cassandra but because things weren't going well between them, they filed for a divorce.

He said half way through the divorce, Christie told him she was pregnant with his oldest daughter Casey and because he had confused feelings about his gender, he had suggested she have an abortion.

He also refused to be at her birth because he didn't want her at that time.

At first, Bruce brought up the idea of an abortion, but “rejected it after 30 seconds.” He also told the July 1980 edition of Playboy that his “first reaction was that I didn’t want the baby.” Cassandra aka Casey, 34, told the magazine that she did not find out her father didn't want her until she was 13.

She said: 'I never knew he wasn't at my birth until I was about 13 years old and we were arguing on the phone about money,' she told the magazine. 'He kept saying, "You don’t know the whole story". 'I hung up the phone and was asking my mom what he was talking about until she confessed the history behind my birth.'

'Under the circumstances I could not even see myself being there,' Jenner told the magIn the July 1980 edition of Playboy, Jenner had admitted: 'My first reaction was that I didn't want it'. Chrystie also confirmed at the time that she had considered an abortion, but only because her husband wanted one.

This confession strained the relationship between Jenner and his daughter Casey but now things are getting better between two of them.

' It’s sad to hear that Bruce and Casey had a rough relationship during her upbringing, but on a positive note, Caitlyn now talks to her daughter, Casey, more than ever. “We now talk more than we ever have,” Jenner told Vanity Fair. “We can just be girls together.”

5 people dead after eating dog meat at an eatery

5 people have been confirmed dead at Woji, Obio/ Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, after eating dog meat from a popular Inn in the area.

The deaths have caused tension in the area as people have begun to question went people have died after eating dog meat alleged to have been cooked by one Friday Dickson, popularly called Etiaba.

Reports gathered that Etiaba owns an Inn that specializes in only dog meat in Mini-Woji Road and has owned it for a very long time.

A witness said the death of these 5 people shortly after eating the dog meat prompted an emergency meeting by the council of chiefs and elders, with a view to locating other members of the community who also ate the dog meat from the same Inn.

He said Etiaba fled the area after he learnt of the death of the 5 people.

Kim K reacts angrily after Wendy Williams says she's using a surrogate

Kim reacted so angrily on Twitter this evening that Twitter contacted her to be sure she hadn't been hacked because the things she wrote were so unlike her.

The pregnant reality star got really angry after Wendy Williams said on her show that Kim will use a surrogate for her second baby but will try to deceive the public with a prosthetic belly. Wendy told her audience;

"They're saying that they could possibly be using a surrogate from Thailand who's allegedly living in Kanye's Manhattan Beach home, and they're also alleging that Kim will buy prosthetics to baby up for every month." Nigerian woman shot dead by her ex- boyfriend outside Target store in Maryland

A 24 year old woman identified as Marie Shade Adebayo was shot dead yesterday June 1st by a man believed to be her ex-boyfriend outside a Target store in Milestone Center, Montgomery County, Maryland. Police have arrested 27 year old Donald Wayne Bricker Jr for the murder.

According to NBC Washington, witnesses said they saw Shade and Donald involved in some sort of altercation inside a vehicle prior to the shooting.

Shade then got out of the vehicle and Donald followed. Investigators say Donald fired his gun at Shade, striking her.

According to police, he then walked up to her and fired again. He then took off in a white Ford Ranger.

He was arrested by police an hour later. A gun was recovered at the scene of the crash, police said.

Footballer Emmanuel Emenike's dad dies after surgery in Dubai

Super Eagles player, Emmanuel Emenike lost his dad on Wednesday May 27th. The elder Emenike died after under-going surgery in a Dubai hospital.

The footballer is currently in Dubai with his other family members to bring their father's corpse back home. RIP to him.

Suicide bomber shouting 'Sai Buhari" attack Maiduguri market

The Police in Borno said five persons died when a suicide bomber attacked an abattoir in Maiduguri on Tuesday.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, Aderemi Opadokun, stated this when he spoke with journalists in Maiduguri. Mr. Opadokun said the attack occurred at about 11.30 a.m.

“A suicide bomber, who was shouting “Sai Buhari”, and dancing in the abattoir, detonated Improvised Explosive Device strapped on his body when people had gathered around him.

Five people, including himself, died, while eight others sustained injuries,” he said. Mr. Opadokun added that policemen were mobilised to the scene to evacuate the corpses and the convey the injured to the hospital, adding that investigation into the blast was ongoing. (NAN)

Governor Ambode visits scene of todays tanker accident

Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode visited the scene of the fire incident that occurred in the Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos this morning in which properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed.

Ambode said the fire was caused by a 33, 000 liter petrol tanker that fell off the Ipaja bridge and spilled its content across five streets in the area. Shops, cars, buses and buildings were razed in the ensuing inferno. See more photos after the cut..

Explaining, Governor Akinwunmi said "Around 1am, a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of petrol fell from the Ipaja bridge and spilled all its contents covering almost five streets here.

In the last four hours, all our emergency agencies have been effectively on the ground and we have been able to manage and control consequences of what 33,000 litres of petrol would have done to this neighbourhood.

Thank God, there has not been any loss of lives, but again, there are victims whose shops were destroyed. As of the last count, the agencies have been able to report that everything has been put under control.

We’ve also recorded two other incidences, just like this one in other parts of Lagos overnight; one in Badagry and the other one in the Ojo area.

It would also mean that our tanker drivers have to start to do something about their operations. We cannot continue to record loss of lives and property because our tanker drivers are not disciplined.”
